Finally in Spain

Getting here was quite the process. We got to Logan at 5 pm on Thursday. We had a 7 hour flight to London and then a 5 hour layover. We met the happiest baby in the world on the way to London. He didn't cry the entire 7 hour flight, and was still laughing as we were about to get off. The babies on the other flights, however, we no where near as quiet. We made it to Madrid just in time for our next flight, but it ended up getting delayed about 2 hours. We sat next to a British guy that had been on our flight from London as well. He helped us get a map and directions to our hotel when we got to the airport. We landed in Granada at 9:30 pm (6:30 pm at home). After 24 hours of traveling, we were glad to take the taxi to our hotel.

Once we got here, we took our stuff upstairs to realize there was no wifi. Now that may not sound like a big deal, but the last time we had called home was in London and we just wanted to let everyone know we were here. We decided we could figure that out after we got dinner, because we were starving. We walked across the street at 11 (not that late to eat dinner here). Michelle and I both ordered a beef and ham sandwich. That doesn't even sound appetizing as I describe it now, so who knows why we decided to order that. It was nasty. I'm not one to stick to just hamburgers and pizza when I go to a new place, but this was the worst tasting beef I think I've ever eaten. So we went back to the hotel around midnight and found out that all we needed for wifi was the password from the front desk. I was able to go on facebook and skype to let my family know I was here and felt ten times better.

We went to bed around 1:30 am and slept until 12! We were exhausted... We got phones and international calling cards today and were able to give our moms our numbers. Thank god the woman at the store was understanding and eventually got a woman who knew some English, because the phone plan was confusing. To be honest, I was still confused when it was explained to me in English, so I didn't feel so bad. Most of the people have been very helpful. We are back in the hotel now because almost everything shuts down for a few hours starting around 2pm for siesta. Tomorrow is orientation, so we will check out in the morning, go to the orientation at our hotel, and then meet our host families at night (which I am extremely excited, but a little anxious for).

¡Adios!
